Today our guest is a really special and beloved friend of mine – Sandi Stuart.

I met Sandi while I was studying IBP – or Integrative Body Psychotherapy – which I’ve talked about a variety of times on the show. Sandi was one of the teaching assistants for my class. So over the 3 years going through this program she was an incredible teacher and support system to me and I got to know her in such an intimate way. (Sadly this particular class is no longer offered- but there are many other resources I will provide in the show notes if you want to learn more about IBP)

Sandi has been a trailblazer for women. She was one of the first female sales executives in the men’s clothing business. She started her career as an outsider and worked her way up the ladder becoming the executive vice president at Bugle Boy Industries. During her 25-year career at Bugle Boy, she helped the company grow from $0 to $500 million annually. Now she is the co-founder of Agency Licensing and also works as a life coach and leads workshops. In addition to consulting on issues important to women in business, Sandi focuses on providing and sharing practical consciousness for women entrepreneurs.

Sandi is such a wise soul and someone who I deeply respect. She has so much insight to share. She has a thriving marriage, a great relationship with her daughter, a fulfilling and successful career and most importantly – a deep connection with herself.

Today we talk about Sandi’s personal journey of self-discovery and healing.

She shares:

  • How her trauma as a child manifested in her body as an adult
  • The connection between the body and our emotions
  • How she reconnected with her authenticity
  • Why she wore a baby carrier w no baby in it!
  • Her experience working in a male dominant industry
  • And much much more!

We recorded this interview at Sandi’s beautiful home in Malibu, overlooking the mountains and the ocean. It was such an intimate chat. I hope you enjoy!

Today we have the lovely Sonia Doubell on the show. Sonia is a master yogi and fellow seeker. She is the Founder of Moving Energy Yoga & Creator of TOTAL BODY YOGA AM/PM.

As a Yoga Alliance Senior Teacher, NLP practitioner, Hypnobirthing teacher and Life Coach Sonia is passionate about sharing the potential of self-realization through yoga.

Sonia began her working career as a model. She had what many would consider to be a glamorous lifestyle but even after checking all the boxes “to be happy” Sonia found herself dissatisfied and empty. Yoga became the key to unlocking a much richer, more fulfilling, inner life.

Now, her yoga method has taken her all over the world, from teaching actors in Hollywood to Richard Branson on Necker Island.

Sonia is known for her unique style of Moving Energy Yoga. She believes yoga has the ability to transform difficult emotions, unlock deeply held tension in the body and open the heart.

I’ve always been active and into sports and exercise but nothing has transformed me, mentally, physically and spiritually like yoga has. We cover a lot of ground today and speak about many things besides yoga. However, I definitely wanted to touch on the power of yoga as it’s played such a huge role in my journey of self-discovery and I realized we haven’t spoken about it nearly enough on the show.

In this episode we discuss:

  • Sonia’s personal journey of self-discovery
  • How the breath effects our emotions
  • Why yoga is so transformational
  • The importance of practicing relaxation
  • How being a mother has healed her
  • How she brings mindfulness into parenting
  • And much much more!

Suzi Lula, M.A., A.L.S.P., is a much-sought-after Spiritual Counselor, Teacher and Inspirational Speaker who is an expert in the field of human transformation.

Combining her innovative teachings over her 18 years in private practice, along with her master’s degree in spiritual psychology, suzi has mentored some of the most successful ministers, coaches and evolutionary leaders influencing our culture today and has been described as a ‘”teachers teacher” by the nationally renowned, spiritual leader Michael Bernard Beckwith (who is one of Oprah’s top 100 Spiritual Teachers of our time). You know I always have to get an Oprah reference in here if possible.

Suzi serves on the faculty of the University at The Agape International Center of Truth in Los Angeles, one of the fastest growing spiritual centers in the country with over a 10,000 person membership.

SIDENOTE: You guys I love Agape. It’s SUCH a special place. There’s an amazing sense of community and kinship. It feels like a spiritual safe haven. The founder Michael Bernard Beckwith is one of the most powerful speakers and leaders I have ever encountered. There’s great diversity amongst the members and as an added bonus they have amazing musical guests that come in (Van Morrison just showed up one night I was there to perform, nbd)

Back to Suzi… Known as a visionary leader, Suzi is also redefining motherhood. She challenges conventional thinking that says mothers must sacrifice and martyr themselves to be good mothers and instead, guides them to the realization that when they thrive, their children will flourish as well. She has an amazing book on this called The Motherhood Evolution.

Suzi is also a composer and an award-winning pianist just to add to her many accolades.

Thank you to Barnet Bain for connecting us!!

Harville Hendrix Ph.D. and Helen LaKelly Hunt Ph.D. are internationally-respected couple's therapists, educators, speakers, and New York Times bestselling authors. Together, they have written over 10 books with more than 4 million copies sold, including the timeless classic, Getting the Love You Want: A Guide for Couples. In addition Harville has appeared on Oprah 17 times! Anyone who knows me knows I’m obsessed with Oprah so I’m extremely envious of this.

Harville and Helen co-created Imago Relationship Therapy which is a form of relationship and couples therapy that focuses on relational counseling to transform any conflict between couples into opportunities for healing and growth.

They are the co-founders of Imago Relationships International, which is a non-profit organization that has trained over 2,000 therapists and educators in 51 countries around the world.

So these guys know their stuff.

However, marriage—even for marriage experts—isn’t always easy. Just like any other couple, Harville and Helen experienced a power struggle where they attempted to change, coerce, and threaten each other to be “more like me.” Sound familiar to anybody?

20 years ago, after a decade of marriage, they found themselves teetering on the brink of divorce. Ironically, it was their own teachings that made the biggest difference in turning their relationship around. And they now enjoy a true partnership that has lasted over 30 years and are happier than ever.

So in today’s episode they share not only their expertise through working with other couples but also from their own personal journey.

In today’s episode we discuss:

  • Why we choose our partners (this one is fascinating!)
  • How our childhood effects our relationship
  • The one thing they did that completely transformed their own relationship
  • Why we’re such bad listeners
  • How to re-romanticize your relationship
  • And much much more.

Judson BrewerMD PhD, is a thought leader in the field of habit change and the “science of self-mastery,” combining over 20 years of personal experience with mindfulness training with his scientific research.

Dr. Brewer is the Director of Research and Innovation at the Center for Mindfulness at UMASS and associate professor in psychiatry at the School of Medicine at Brown University, as well as a research affiliate at MIT. So this guy has no shortage of credentials.

His TED talk “A simple way to break a bad habit”has been viewed over 10 million times.

And his book, “The Craving Mind: From Cigarettes to Smartphones to Love — Why We Get Hooked and How We Can Break Bad Habits,”explores how habits form, why they’re so hard to overcome, and the research that gives us hope they can be changed.

In your life – what types of behaviors do you reinforce?

It’s likely that the majority of us do not reinforce habits that lead awayfrom stress. Once we learn how to use our stress compass – which we’ll talk about later in the show – we may realize that we are actually looking for happiness in all the wrong places. Dr. Brewer helps steer us back in the right direction.

In today’s episode we explore:

  • How we develop habits – including addictions to our phones, social media, thinking and even love!
  • How we can reprogram our habits
  • The importance of mindfulness in this process
  • And much much more..

Jud is the real deal. He was so present and kind during the interview and I’m so excited to share this episode with you!
